Celestine Hebert Smith

Celestine H. Smith, 92, passed away peacefully in Beaumont, Texas on Monday February 22, 2016. Celestine was born in Nederland, Texas on December 4, 1923 to William and Rosemond Hebert who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were her husband; John L. Smith and daughter; Robin Collazo. She was a graduate of the Class of 1941 from South Park High School in Beaumont and then attended Bethany College in Bethany, Oklahoma. Celestine was an outstanding pianist. She received her degree in music from Olivet College after attending there. After returning to Beaumont, Texas, she started her career in music. She taught in the Port Arthur School system for several years. She was pianist for the First Baptist Senior Choir (The Silvertones) for several years. She married John L. Smith in Nederland and they enjoyed their spare time with traveling and camping. Celestine enjoyed raising flowers and making them grow. She also loved to fish. Celestine is survived by her sister; Wilma Spreckels of Beaumont and grandson; Cary Chiasson.

Visitation will be held on Friday February 26, 2016 beginning at 10:00 A.M. at Forest Lawn Funeral Home followed by graveside services at 11:00 A.M. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Beaumont.
