Grew up starting on Church St and then moved at age 5 to Saxe St. in Beaumont.
Carl, (Carlie by family members) went through school at Pietzch Elementary, MacArthur Jr High and then South Park High School. At the age of 12, Carl became interested in playing the piano. He took piano lessons from Andy Roundine down the street. Because of his passion for learning, Chic and Carl bought him a small baby grand piano. After High School, Carl went to Lamar to get his degree in Music. There, he received his Masters in Music. Even after retirement, he taught students, young and old, piano from his living room on Chenevert St.
Carl met Juan Hernandez and they lived in Houston together for 44 years before Juan passed away in 2017. After Carl retired, he and Juan began to dabble in antiques. Juan worked on his painting and art while Carl worked on dishware. They opened California Connections Dinnerware Shop in Houston. Carl never gave up teaching piano lessons until he passed. Music was his life. During their years of collecting glassware, Carl wrote a book on Metlox and became the expert on it.
Carl had a great influence on so many peoples lives and a profound effect on those he met. Carl taught them how to present themselves in all walks of life. He was well loved and respected by people of all ages that came through his life and will be missed by all.
