Vernal "Vern" Orland Parton, 79, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 9:15 AM, at Redlands Community Hospital, Redlands, California. Vern was born October 25, 1932, in Wood River, Illinois, to Clyde and Rebecca Parton.
Mr. Parton married Miss Marverna "Sue" Via on January 6, 1954, in Palm Springs, California. Vern and Sue had two children, Janet Lopez and Mark Parton.
Vern was a decorated combat veteran of the Korean War in the United States Marine corps.
For over fifty years Vern was an owner and hard worker of Via's Turkey Ranch. He held on strong to what he loved doing until he received a complete heart transplant in 1999. His heart beat was steady and strong until his last breath. Vern was very thankful and proud of his donor, and was very supportive of the UCLA Medical Center.
Vern was a resident of Yucaipa, California for 50 years. His time was well spent by creating strong friendships and enjoying the ones whom he held close to his heart. Vern enjoyed spending his summers in Hoodsport, Washington at his vacation home visiting family and friends. Vern also enjoyed driving his motor home, boating and watching his Grandchildren grow.
Vern is survived by his wife, Sue Parton; daughter, Janet Lopez; son, Mark Parton and his 3 Grandchildren, Shawn Melvin, Kyle Parton and Jennifer Parton and his 4 Great Grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Samuel Parton of Bradley, Illinois and George Parton of Litchfield, Arizona and his sister, Naomi Helms of Hoodsport, Washington.

Funeral service Monday, July 30, 2012, at 11:00 AM. Visitation also Monday from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM, both at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont, California. A reception will follow services at Yucaipa Community Center, 34900 Oak Glen Road, Yucaipa, California.
