Patrick Arthur Kyger passed away on Monday, April 20. Pat was born September 3, 1945 in Los Angeles, California and died at the age of 69. He lived most of his life in Fontana, CA before moving to Beaumont, CA.
Pat was preceded in death by his parents Harry and Helen Kyger. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, and friend. He leaves behind a loving family who will love and miss him dearly…wife of 49 years, Judy, daughter Michelle, son Mike, daughter Maggi (Kerry Midkiff), grandsons: Michael John, Joshua (Stephanie Bellefeuille), and Matthew, and great grand-daughter Sawyer Grace.
Pat contributed too many lives throughout his life. He was a ‘hands on father’ which inevitably made him a father figure to his children’s friends. He gave of his time freely and asked for nothing in return. He spent many years coaching community youth sports, coaching persons with special needs, teaching his children’s friends how to do things like tile a bathroom or lay hardwood floors…doing the right things for the right reasons.
Pat was known to all of his friend’s children and grandchildren as “Boompa” or “Papa”. He was a life of the party and regularly dressed up as Santa Claus for Christmas parties and events. Pat continued the friendships he established as a child which developed into the most extensive loving group of friends which could not go without being called family.
He was an active member of the Resurrection Catholic Church as a Eucharistic Minister and was a member of the Knights of Columbus and later attended Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Beaumont.
He filled many of his later years enjoying the love of his family and friends. Pat enjoyed traveling, hiking, gardening, supporting the Dodgers and the Lakers and an occasional glass of wine in the evenings. He was the first in the car to go somewhere (especially if food was involved) and the first to say what a great time was had in the end. He was always in the mood for a good card game or a game with his “poker pals”. Pat will be truly missed.
