Esther Martinez Lara

Esther Martinez Lara, 92, passed away on January 4, 2018 surrounded by her loving family at her home in Beaumont where she has resided for over 80 years. She was born February 28, 1925 in Riverside, CA to Joseph & Agnes McCarty Martinez. Esther graduated from Beaumont High School and became a Certified Nurse’s Aide, and later, she worked for the Beaumont Unified School District as a cafeteria worker. Her most special achievement in life was that she was a loving wife and mother to her 5 children. She was a devout Catholic and she had been a member of Saint Kateri of Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Beaumont ever since it was built.

Esther was preceded in death by her Husband on October 11, 2010, Joaquin Lara and Son, Dennis Lara. She is survived by her Daughters, Diana Williams and Karen Woods; Sons, Joaquin Lara, Jr and Michael Lara; Sisters Annie and Katie; 10 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation is scheduled on Thursday, January 11, 2018 from 4:00 – 9:00 pm with Rosary & Celebration of Life Service at 7:00 pm, at Weaver Mortuary, 1177 Beaumont Avenue, Beaumont. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, January 12, 2018 at 10:00 am at Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church, 1234 Palm Avenue, Beaumont. A graveside service will follow at Mt. View Cemetery in Beaumont.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Church Bereavement Ministry.
