Born on November 27, 1928 in Houston, Texas, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 56 years, Betty, his father William C. Parsons, Sr., his mother, Julia Runnels Parsons, and his sister June Parsons Beard. He leaves behind to cherish his memories three grief-stricken daughters and son-in-laws, Dolores and Danny Devine, Susan and Robin Roberts, and Vicki and Ricky Batson: four grandchildren, Scott Batson, Brad Batson, Regina Devine, and Wade Roberts: two brothers Clifford Earl Parsons and Johnny Ray Parsons; fiancé Betty Bledsoe; numerous other family members and friends; and special puppy dog “Cissy”.
Bill’s true loving character shined in everything he did. At an early age, he took responsibility for the welfare of his family, never thinking twice about quitting school and going to work to assure his mother and siblings were provided for. He carried with him throughout life this strong work ethic as evidenced by his establishing Glendale Boat Works while holding a full time job at Armco Steel.
Serving the Lord, family, and others was an integral part of Bill’s life. He was a dedicated member of the Methodist faith. He currently belongs to St. Marks United Methodist Church in Baytown and is a past member of First United Methodist Church in Mt. Belvieu and Holy Trinity United Methodist Church in Houston. He enjoyed singing in the choir, held numerous church offices, and was quick to lend a helping hand around the church whenever the need arose.
Even after retiring from the boat building business, Bill refused to slow down. He always had a special project going on. Whether it was helping the grandkids with something for school, rebuilding his tractor, or his repairing a friend’s lawnmower, he was continually hard at work. He enjoyed building and flying remote controlled airplanes and was an active member of Jetero RC Club and a past member of Prop Nuts RC Club. Recently he was recertified as a private pilot and looked forward to getting in the air again.
After experiencing a tumultuous year, Bill sought and ultimately found happiness when he met and proposed to Betty Bledsoe of Waco. Filled with great anticipation, Bill spent his last few weeks eagerly awaiting his upcoming wedding and planning for his future.
A devoted father, father-in-law, “Pawpaw”, uncle, fiancé, and treasured friend; he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
