Stephen Scott O’Sullivan, 50, passed away on September 4, 2021. Stephen was born December 19, 1970 in Baytown, Texas to Ronald and Betty O’Sullivan. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1989 and received a degree from the University of Houston Downtown. Stephen began his education career in 2001 at Horace Mann Junior High in the Goose Creek Consolidated Independent School District. In 2009 he joined the Channelview Independent School District as a High School Math Teacher and Coach.
Stephen was preceded in death by his mother, Betty O’Sullivan, aunt and uncle Rita and Don Reasoner, uncle Jerry Kemplay, and cousins Donny Reasoner and Amy O’Sullivan.
He is survived by his son Patrick O’Sullivan, father Ron O’Sullivan, sister Jennifer Clift and husband Kyle, niece Lauren Clift, nephew Cole Clift, aunt Lynn Kemplay, aunt and uncle Mike and Barbara O’Sullivan, and cousins Johnny Reasoner, Keith Kemplay, Donna Nelson, and Robert O’Sullivan. He also leaves behind numerous members of his extended family, friends and colleagues.
Though his life was cut far too short, Stephen’s impact will live on. His teaching career provided him the platform to mentor and have a positive influence on thousands of students and athletes. However, his greatest joy and accomplishment was his son Patrick. His time with Patrick were his most cherished memories.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 13, 2021 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at Navarre Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 1:00pm at Memory Gardens in Baytown.
Serving as pallbearers are Cole Clift, Kyle Clift, Dennis Hullum, Sean Jez, Keith Kemplay, and Patrick O’Sullivan.
The family sincerely wishes to thank the doctors and staff of Patients ER and Memorial Hermann Southeast for the care and kindness they showed Stephen and our family during his hospitalization.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take time to make a special memory with your family or friends. Stephen’s passing is a stark reminder that we are not guaranteed tomorrow and we should all cherish the time we get to spend with our loved ones.
