After graduating from high school, Ruth served as a clerk typist in the United Stated Marine Corps from January, 1945 until March, 1946. In 1947, Ruth married Robert Francis Stipe. The couple owned Thrifty Oil Company for many years and ran the Tex-Gas Gas Station. Ruth was dedicated to church and family, enjoyed crocheting and she attended Victory Baptist Church.
Ruth is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 41 years; her son, Jerry Wayne Stipe; her sisters, Emma Huggins, Elizabeth Marquart and Pearl Bailey and her brother, I.D. Huggins.
Ruth leaves behind her son and daughter-in-law, William and Vickie Stipe; her grandson and his wife, Brian and Cindy Stipe; her great grandson, Jake Stipe; her great granddaughter, Lily Stipe; and her brother, William Huggins, Jr.
The family will receive friends on Friday, November 1, 2013 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Navarre Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Houston National Cemetery with Rev Eddie Norris officiating.
The family wishes to express gratitude to Ruth's special friend and neighbor, Jean Follis.
