Ruby Carman Smith Peterson went to be with her Lord and her beloved husband of 55 years, Troy, on Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was born in Baytown, Texas to Addie and D. T. Smith on May 4, 1921. Ruby was a charter member of the Lakewood Church of Christ in Baytown where she taught scores of young people the Word of her precious Lord. She was the most creative teacher, always making wonderful tools to aid children in remembering the teachings of Jesus. She and Troy fed countless missionaries, ministers and servants of their Lord as leaders in the Lakewood church, always serving and desiring God's best for others.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Eliot Peterson, her mother, Addie Smith and her father, D. T. Smith, as well as her brothers, Dr. Landria Smith, and Tommy Lee Smith and sisters, Mamie Doleshah and Juanita Hanna. Ruby deeply loved her family and was a great Christian advocate for so many throughout her colorful life. She is survived by four sons and a daughter, seven grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. The surviving children are: David Peterson and wife, Betty, of North Shore, Mack Peterson and wife, Tonya, of Wimberley, Lonny Peterson of Baytown, Donny Peterson and wife, Carol, of Houston and daughter, Carol Peterson Manley and husband, Steve, of Sugar Land.
Ruby was full of life and extremely talented and creative, making beautiful, porcelain dolls, panoramic sugar Easter eggs, decorating wedding cakes, designing and creating clothing and assisting ""Pete"" and the children in their many endeavors. Although Ruby was invested in creative endeavors, her heart's desire and goal for life was to go to Heaven and take as many people with her as she could. She will be greatly missed.
