Ramon Nicholas Pena, a.k.a. “Ray” at the age of 54, returned to his heavenly home on April 24, 2019. Ray was born on August 31, 1964 to Ofilia and Rene Pena of Kingsville, Texas, and resided in Baytown, Texas. Ray was an endowed member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge #1155, achieving the third and foremost highest degree of masonry “Master Mason”, while previously serving as an officer entitled “Senior Warden” – therefore, allowing him to reach his goal of also becoming a valued member of the International Shriners and was a Noble with Arabia Shriners of Texas. Ray’s compassionate and vibrant spirit allowed him to strive for and achieve many accomplishments within his life on earth, and exhibited astounding pride as a Committeeman of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Gatekeepers, as well as former TASO Football Official.
Academically, Ray attended and studied at Texas A&M University, where he became a Certified Fireman and Paramedic; while later attending San Jacinto College becoming a Certified Chemical Processing Operator leading to a long and fulfilling career in which he became a retiree.
Ray was an avid “sports fan” who had a fondness for the game of football, while favoring Texas A&M University and the Houston Texans, his heart was open to so many other professional teams. Ray’s personality was larger than life and could light up any room with his mere presence—well-known to all for being the life of every celebration and family get-together, as he filled the room with laughter and heart-felt stories bringing joy and smiles to everyone around him. Ray enjoyed Tejano music; dancing; was a mighty prayer warrior who shared Gods word to many; and a committed volunteer at Lakewood Church for many years as a Prayer Partner, bringing many to the saving grace of God, making him a man of inspiration and greatness. Ray was truly a wise, kind and spiritual man who shared his love for all, and for that…was loved by many.
Ray is survived by his loving wife Monica D’Ambra-Pena, mother Ofilia Pena, sister Yvonne Biehler (Larry), niece and nephew Autumn and Ryan Biehler, grandmother Anastacia Garcia, and mother-in-law Lucy D’Ambra-Garza (Joe), as well as extended family and long-time best friend, Jason Rutledge.
