Rafael Sosa Rivas

Rafael S. Rivas, 81, was born April 10, 1937 in Soliseño, Mexico to Rafael Rivas Chavez and Juanita Sosa Leal. He passed away on December 29, 2018, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Rafael moved to Baytown in 1979 where he dedicated 28 years of hard work in different companies with Zachry being the last company he worked for. Once he retired, he loved spending time with his wife, grandkids, and great-grandkids. He also loved the outdoors: barbecuing with the family and listening to his favorite music. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather known as “Chale”, brother, uncle and a great friend. He was respected and adored by many and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Hortencia “Tencha” Rivas; daughter, Marvelia Morales Rivas and Jose Angel Morales; grandchildren Marvelia Elizabeth Rodriguez, Edgar Rodriguez, Jose Angel Morales, Jr., Evelin Morales, Perla Gonzalez, Saul Gonzalez, Rafael Morales, Lily Morales. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandkids: Lesley Perez, Marcus Oakley, Leonel Perez III, Elibeth Morales Ramirez, Luis Ramirez, Pablo Coy, Jr., Joanna Gutierrez, Elizabeth Perez, Katelyn Coy, Kayla Morales, Catelyn Morales, Jose Angel Morales III, David Morales, Adrian Gonzalez, Avery Morales, Julian Morales, Aaron Gonzalez, and lastly great-great-granddaughter Emireth Ramirez.

His family will received friends on Tuesday, January 1, 2019 at Earthman Baytown Funeral Home from 5:00-6:00 pm with a rosary at 6:30 pm. On Wednesday, January 2, 2019, family will continue to receive family and friends at 9:00 am at Earthman Funeral Homel. Services will begin at 10:00 am with burial following at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Jose Angel Morales, Jr., Rafael Morales, Leo Perez III, Pablo Coy, Jr., Saul Gonzalez, and Edgar Rodriguez.
