Patricia Yvonne Swanson

Patricia Yvonne Reynolds Swanson, 87, affectionately known to all as Grandma Pat, died peacefully on August 24th, 2021. She was born October 4th, 1933 in Duluth, Minnesota and was happily adopted by Richard and Augusta Reynolds.

She will be welcomed to heaven by her parents, her loving husband, Donald Swanson, daughter Susan Vanwave Kirkland, daughter-in-law Rachel Swanson, and granddaughter Dana Vanwave.

Survived by her son Gary Swanson (Baytown, TX), daughter Gail and Patrick Davis (Deer Park, TX). Grandchildren Russell Swanson, Cara Swanson, Mallory Davis, Courtney Davis, Lauren Kirkland (Shakey), Tyler Kirkland (Starr), in-laws Arlen and Carol Swanson (Virginia, MN), Richard Duzan (Shakopee, MN), numerous nieces and nephews, and her beloved, faithful dog Sammy Swanson.

Grandma Pat loved unconditionally and everyone that met her loved her back. She was sweet, caring, and kind. It shined through in all her interactions. She completely loved her grandchildren and could be seen cheering them on at football, soccer and basketball games, dance recitals, bowling tournaments, piano recitals, and graduations. She never missed a single Grandparents Day at her grandchildren’s schools. She had a bigger sweet tooth than any kid could ever imagine. Give her a candy bar or cookies and her eyes would light up with joy.

Her grandchildren would call her the dog whisperer, because every dog and animal adored her kind, gentle personality.

Grandma Pat had the world’s greenest thumb. Give her any plant (dead or alive) and it would grow and thrive.

She loved bowling and bowled in many leagues, including state and national tournaments, the Baytown Woodwinds and the Keenagers.

She was involved in many bridge clubs and earned enough duplicate bridge points to become a Master bridge player. She could be seen playing bridge at the Baytown Community Center, Lee College or other duplicate bridge tournaments throughout the week.

She was a loyal member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Baytown for over 45 years.

A memorial service honoring the life of Grandma Pat will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Baytown. Saturday, September 11th 11:00am.
