Linda grew up in Carmona and Corrigan, Texas, and was a longtime resident of Baytown, Texas. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas and her Master’s Degree in Organ Performance from the University of Houston. She taught music at Deepwater Junior High and then taught private piano lessons at her home in Baytown. She was Organist and Choir Director at Cedar Bayou United Methodist Church and Organist at Grace United Methodist Church, both in Baytown.
She was preceded in death by her parents Harry Lee Safford and Irene Lavonia Starkey Safford and her husband LeRoy Hafer, Jr.
She is survived by her children Greg and Aurora Hafer, Gary and Glenda Hafer, and Sheri and Frank Edel; aunts Sarah Jane Platt and Betty Brown; grandchildren Aaron and Caitlyn Hafer, Megan Hafer, Jeremy Hafer, Clint Hafer, Michael Jon Hughes, Zachary and Carolyn Hughes, Jason and Jennifer Clay, and Cody Clay; and great grandchildren Garrett Hafer, Brodie Hafer, Alaina Hafer, Aubrey Hafer, Cassidy Clay, Jack Clay, Colton Clay, Mackenzie Clay, Camryn Hughes, Niyah Hughes, and Madilyn Hughes.
Visitation will be held at Bellaire United Methodist Church - 4417 Bellaire Blvd., Bellaire, TX 77401, 713-666-2167 on Thursday, April 12 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Committal will be at the Houston National Cemetery - 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038, 281-447-8686 on Friday, April 13 at 1:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers will be Aaron Hafer, Jason Clay, Jeremy Hafer, Clint Hafer, Dean Moseley and Peter Cushman. Committal service will be led by Rev. Jim Love.
