Jesse was born in Baytown, Texas on September 30, 1954, to parents Ruben J. Martinez and Mary Bernal Martinez.
He is survived by his brothers: Michael Martinez (Denise), Richard Martinez and sisters: Irma Montes (Jose), Mary Rodriguez (Frank Jr.), and Patricia Sanchez (Aurelio), sister in law Terry Bernal and several nieces and nephews: Crystal Redden, Joaquin Montes, Micah Bernal, Jose Montes, Michael Martinez Jr., Christopher Martinez, Elizabeth Contreras, Mark Martinez, Frank Rodriguez III, Aurelio Sanchez Jr. and Priscilla Sanchez.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ruben J. Martinez Sr. and Mary B. Martinez and sister Dymphna Martinez and brothers Ruben Martinez Jr. and Joe Bernal.
Jesse graduated from Baytown Robert E. Lee High School, and he went on to be employed at LyondellBasell as a Process Technician and retired in 2020 after 45 years of service.
His interests and hobbies were buying lottery tickets daily and going to the casinos, he was a gambling man. He loved watching all sports, especially football and baseball. He loved his Dallas Cowboys. He also liked going to watch high school football games, especially the Northshore Mustangs. Some of his favorite things to do included going out to eat at all different places with his family, he never left anyone out. Jesse was known to so many people as a very generous and giving man, he never met a stranger anywhere he went he would strike up a conversation. Jesse was a very active man he liked to get up early and go drink coffee and read the paper at the corner store and then either go workout at the gym or go walk around the Lee College indoor track. He also loved to dance to his hip hop, rap and disco music at family gatherings. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews especially his great nephews King Sanchez III, Ezequiel Garcia and great niece Skylar Sanchez, they meant the world to him. Jesse will be dearly missed by all who knew him especially his family.
Services to honor Jesse Martinez will be on Friday, March 1, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Earthman’s Funeral Home located at 3919 Garth Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521 with a Rosary from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday, March 2, 2024, a Mass will be held at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 1124 Beech St. Baytown, Texas 77520 at 10:00 a.m to 11:00 a.m., with Burial Services immediately following at Memory Gardens Cemetery at 8624 Garth Rd. Baytown, Texas 77521 at 11:30 a.m. followed by A Celebration of Life to be announced at the Cemetery.
