Jeanette A. Jones

Born on February 17th, 1935, in Houston, Texas, to Marie and George Ehrhardt, both of German descent. Janet attended Reagan High School in the Heights. She left school to work as a soda jerk at Mading's Drug Store, and a cigarette girl at Henke & Pillot in Houston to have spending money for her love of clothing and fashion.

On a fall day in October 1953, a shy and young Janet stumbled from her grandmother's porch into the arms of Ike Jones, known as Buddy. That was the beginning of a 54-year marriage of love, until 2007, when death they were parted.

Janet was preceded in death by her husband, Ike N. Jones, Jr.; daughter, Janet Elaine Jones; parents, George and Marie Ehrhardt; all six siblings, Loraine Meadors, Louise, Georgia, and brothers, George, Clarence, and Wayne Ehrhardt.

She is survived by her children, Denice Young and Terry Wayne Jones and his partner, Jay Jones; grandchildren, Johnny and Ronnie Simmons and Brandi Fairchild; great-granddaughter Mackenzie and husband Landon Alexander; great-great-granddaughter Oakley. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Audrey Bryant, Peggy Jones, and Edna Ehrhardt, and a great many cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives, and her four-legged furry friend.

Her life motto was, "I Love my family with all my heart!"

Visitation is on Thursday, August 15th, from 5:00-7:00 p.m.; the chapel service is at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 16th, at Earthman Funeral Home. 3919 Garth Rd, Baytown, Texas.

Janet demonstrated her love for children through St. Jude Children's Research and Texas Children's Hospitals.
