Gloria Ann Alexander, 88, peacefully passed away and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on July 6, 1936, in Palestine, Texas, to Charles and Helen Smith, Gloria's journey through life was marked by dedication to family, service to others, and unwavering faith.
Gloria's early years were shaped by her family's move when her father, Charles, accepted a position as a machinist with Humble Oil Company. A proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, she held fond memories of her time in the Brigadiers, where she played the bugle. The Brigadiers' motto, "When I grow too old to dream, Brigadiers will live in my heart," remained close to her heart throughout her life.
After completing her education in clerical administration at Lee College, Gloria began her career at the Baytown Municipal Court. It was there that fate intervened, leading her to meet her beloved husband, Hilton Alexander, following his involvement in a car accident. Their chance encounter blossomed into a beautiful love story spanning over six decades, filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.
Driven by her desire to spend more time with family, Gloria later joined Goose Creek CISD at the Tri-County East Regional Day School Program for the Deaf, where she served as a secretary for 20 years. Her dedication to supporting administrators, teachers, and the deaf education community left an indelible mark on countless lives.
Gloria's legacy is characterized by her extraordinary capacity for love and service to others. She was known for her patient listening ear, unconditional love for her family, and her famous chocolate pie that could lift any spirit. Her gentle nature and nurturing spirit made her a beacon of warmth and comfort to all who knew her.
As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take solace in knowing that she has been welcomed into the loving embrace of her Heavenly Father. Gloria's legacy of faith, love, and unwavering character will continue to inspire all who knew her.
