Frances Louise Ponder

Frances was born April 6, 1939 at her home near Murchison in Henderson County, Texas.

Frances was handicapped with Cerebral Palsy but attended Goose Creek schools through the tenth grade. Frances and her mother move to Athens, Texas in 1974 after her father’s death. They moved back to Baytown in 1993. Her mother died in 1994 and Frances lived alone and went to the Baytown Opportunity School for handicapped for several years. Frances moved to Clear Lake into a group home two weeks before Christmas 1999. She was under supervision at all times. They had a work shop and she was able to work and be around other people like herself. She fell while working at the workshop in the Spring of 2006 and broke her hip. She was in rehab in Pasadena for a month and then was transferred to Allenbrook Nursing Home in Baytown, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas M. Ponder and Rena Lee Thomas Ponder, her nephew Norman Dwayne Ponder, and her nephew-in-law Steven Duane Smith.

She was survived by her brother and sister-in-law William Norman and Kay Ponder; nephew Rance Ponder and wife Rhonda; niece D’Laine Smith, niece-in-law Vicki Ponder; great nieces and nephews Michelle, Matthew, Danielle and Danon Ponder and Skye Smith all of Baytown.

A private family graveside service and interment will be conducted at Oaklawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Athens, Texas.

Cremation is under the direction of Navarre Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
