Retired at the time of his death, Dave worked for many years as a heavy equipment and crane operator, taking the cranes to the top of many of the skyscrapers in downtown Houston. In his earlier days, he competed in rodeo events and then took up the game of golf. He was a long time member and former Elder of First Christian Church in Baytown. Dave is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Phil and Rhonda Chandler; daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Harold ""Chip"" Kaye; sister, Margaret ""Tibby"" Gruss; sister-in-law, Ima Jean ""Betty"" White; grandchildren, Kyle Pavlas and wife Linda, Kelly Jo Kaye; and Justin Patterson; great-grandchildren, Harry Matthews and Karys Pavlas; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy Chandler; brothers, Joe Chandler and Lamar Chandler; and wife of fifty-five years, Eva Bonita ""BB"" Chandler.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, January 3, 2015 at First Christian Church in Baytown, followed by a time to visit with the family. For those desiring, memorial donations may be made to the scholarship fund of the Trinity Ex-Students Association, P.O. Box 1994, Trinity, Texas 75862, or First Christian Church, 201 Forrest Avenue, Baytown, Texas 77520.
