Alton Reed Williams, Sr., age 87 of Cove, Texas passed away December 31, 2018. He was born in Highlands, Texas and lived in several areas of Texas until he enlisted in the Navy. He served in the Navy during the Korean War from 1950 through 1954 where he traveled to various parts of the world. After his service in the Navy, he moved to Montana and worked in and around the oilfield industry. In 1970, he moved back to Texas and resided in the Mont Belvieu area. He worked in local refineries, spending several years working at Enterprise Products in Mont Belvieu. He then operated a family owned business until his retirement.
Alton loved spending time with his family. He always had a great sense of humor and always had a funny story to tell and a nickname for everyone close to him. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were truly a joy in his life.
He is preceded in death by his father Welton J. Williams, mother Viola G. Williams and younger brother Russell Williams.
He is survived by his younger sister Patsy Wetch of Billings, Montana as well as three children: two daughters, Mary Williams and Yvette Williams, and one son Alton Reed Williams, Jr. of Cove, Texas. He also has four grandchildren that he loved and adored: Joshua Lewis and wife Marin of Manvel, Texas. Michael Lewis and wife Delia of Baytown, Texas. Mark Furlong, II and Shelbie Ballard of Cove, Texas. He also has three precious great-grandchildren: Genevieve Rose Lewis, Hannah Ledesma and Lucas Cibrian. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Friends are cordially invited to a visitation with the family from five o’clock until eight o’clock in the evening on Monday the 7th January, in the chapel of Earthman Baytown Funeral Home, 3919 Garth Road in Baytown. The graveside service honoring Alton is to commence at ten o’clock in the morning on Tuesday the 8th of January at Memory Gardens Cemetery, 8624 Garth Road in Baytown.
