THOMAS EARL WHITING took his heavenly flight on January 23, 2018 at the age of 80. He was born January 13, 1938 and lived in Greenwell Springs, LA. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He worked 37 years as a conductor for the Illinois Central Railroad. His passion was flying. He was a dedicated private pilot and spent many happy hours with family and friends aloft. Tom is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Gaynell Whiting; his son Kyle Whiting and wife Mary of Loranger, LA; his daughter Deborah Lanphear and husband Mark of Montgomery, TX. Tom loved his wonderful grandchildren, Logan and Caroline Whiting, and Cali Lanphear. A loving man who looked for ways to help others, he and his family request in lieu of flowers to honor Tom’s life with donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at ALZFDN.org or The Crossing At Clarity Hospice in Baton Rouge.
