Thomas "Tommy" Nicotri Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother in law, uncle, and friend, was born in Plaquemine, Louisiana, May 11, 1948 and passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024 leaving behind a legacy of love, devotion, and service to others.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Judie Rogers Nicotri; children, Shannon Nicotri Stout Nettles and her husband, Dru, Thomas Nicotri Jr. and his wife, Angie; grandchildren, Sarah Stout, Cameron Stout and his wife Ashton, William Stout, Brandon Nicotri, and Caleb Nicotri; sister, Anne Marie Kinchen and her husband, Benny Ray; former son-in-law Billy Stout; step-grandchildren, Claire Nettles and Faith Nettles; step-great-grandson, Jet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Angelo “Greek” Nicotri and Mary Agnes Larussa Nicotri; and his sister, Rose Nicotri.
Tommy, a 1966 graduate from Independence High School, served in many roles throughout his life. He was a former Army Reserve and Mason. In his earlier years, he treasured his time spent as a volunteer basketball coach where he was able to impact his players for the rest of their lives. He worked extremely hard from the ground up as an electrician and eventually started his electrical contracting business, Nicotri Electric, Inc., in 1982.
His entrepreneurial spirit and dedication to his work were matched only by his passion for helping others. Known for his generosity and kind heart, Tommy was always willing to lend a hand to those in need.
Beyond his professional achievements, Tommy had a deep love for golf, a sport that brought him immense joy and many cherished friendships. His enthusiasm for life and his unwavering kindness made him an adored figure in the community. Those who knew him will remember him as the most genuine, tender-hearted person to have ever lived, a man whose impact will be felt for generations. Well before his death, the phrase “the best man I’ve ever known” was often repeated by friends and extended family.
The family would like to give thanks and appreciation to the medical team, especially Drs. Kevin Babin, Jeffrey Hyde, Carl Rigby, and all the ICU nurses.
A visitation and funeral service to celebrate Tommy's life will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Thursday, July 18, 2024 from 8:00 am -10:00 am with service and burial to follow.
