Shirley Wolf Leblanc

Shirley Wolf LeBlanc, devoted wife of the late V. Price LeBlanc, cherished mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, passed peacefully at her Baton Rouge home on November 21, 2024, surrounded by loving family. She was born October 8, 1927, the youngest of ten children of Henry Wolf and Effie Mable Kidd who preceded her in death along with her brothers and sisters and their spouses: Henry W. Wolf, Jr (Frances), Mabel Wolf Jennings (John), Helen Wolf Williams (Hubert), Harold L. Wolf (Athalie), Thelma Wolf Cowart (Sidney), Robert S. Wolf (Dorthy), Effie Wolf Burton (Johnny), Marion L. Wolf (Carmen), and Sarah Wolf Slocum (P.V.), as well many cousins. She was also preceded in death by Price’s brothers and sisters and their spouses: William H. LeBlanc, Jr. (Jane), Marion LeBlanc LaPlace (Colby), Mary Ada LeBlanc Williams (George), and Gordon S. LeBlanc (Alberta), as well as many cousins.

Shirley grew up in the family home on Florida Boulevard, between the family’s Wolf Baking Company and the Saurage’s Community Coffee, where the prevailing winds determined if the lively home was filled with the wonderful aromas of baking bread or roasting coffee. She studied at Southwestern Louisiana Institute after graduating from Baton Rouge High School. While working at a Baton Rouge firm she met and later married Price, the love of her life. They made their home in the LeBlanc family hometown of St. Gabriel, where she was supportive of Price’s budding cattle and automobile businesses - preparing sales documents, collecting loan fundings, and keeping records.

As the youngest, Shirley always admitted to being doted over by parents and siblings. Not too many years later she found it became her role to do the doting, first to Price and eventually to their six children. Never prone to judge others - faith, graciousness, gratefulness, and gentle support were attributes Shirley exhibited in abundance. Always active and supportive of her children’s academic, spiritual, and personal wellbeing, she enjoyed preparing meals for family and friends and the often-unannounced guests whom Price would invite into their home.

Shirley is survived by her children and their spouses: V. Price LeBlanc, Jr. (Christine), Nancy LeBlanc Bondy (Charles), Gregory J. LeBlanc, Clifton D. LeBlanc (Elizabeth), Lori LeBlanc Anderson (Russell), and Brent P. LeBlanc (Jolie).

She is also survived by her grandchildren and their spouses: Philippe LeBlanc, Matthew LeBlanc, Elizabeth Bondy Delacerda (Lucas), Catherine Bondy Trahan (Mike), Caroline Bondy Taylor (Spence), Gregory LeBlanc, Jr. (Wanda), Alex LeBlanc (Kristin), Hannah LeBlanc Samaha (David), Taylor LeBlanc (Madison), John LeBlanc, Emily LeBlanc, Clifton LeBlanc, Jr., John Anderson, Myles Anderson (Allie), Victoria LeBlanc Friedlander (James), Brennan LeBlanc (Madison), and Brianna LeBlanc Napoli (Austin), as well as thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Shirley supported many charitable organizations including Catholic Charities, Baton Rouge Food Bank, Baton Rouge Eye Bank, Our Lady of the Lake Foundation, Louisiana Center for the Blind, Gaitway Therapeutic Horsemanship, Spring Hill College, and St. Gabriel Catholic Church.

Special thanks to the family members and wonderful caregivers who assisted her in recent years, particularly Lura Wolf, Tawanda Lands, and Jenn’s Angels.

Visitation will begin at 9 am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church on Saturday, November 23, 2024 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
