Robert C. Whittington died Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2010, at Heritage Manor Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gloster, Miss., on May 21, 1934. He was a retired insurance salesman and East Baton Rouge Parish school bus driver. He was an avid football fan, especially Ole Miss. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 48 years, Virginia Whittington; a daughter, Georgiana and son-in-law Terrance Guthrie; two sons, Vincent Whittington and daughter-in-law Rhonda, and Robert Jeff Whittington and girlfriend Monica Horn; six grandchildren, Natalie Zeringue, Carrie Cormier and her husband, Trevor, Heather and Robert Guthrie, and Kelli and Kaci Whittington; and six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Braeden, D'Laney, Harmoney, Isaiah and Kayden. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Winnie Whittington; two sisters, Willimenia Jones and Hazel Jean Binning; and a brother, Douglas Whittington. Visitation at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East, 11000 Florida Blvd., Thursday, Jan. 21, was from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. with a recitation of the rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation continues at St. Patrick Catholic Church on Friday from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Robert Guthrie, Trevor Cormier, Joe Guzzardo, Greg Binning, Michael Genusa and Gabe Poche.
