Robert (Bobby) Lloyd Carver passed away on September 9, 2021 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Hospital at the age of 42. He was born in Baton Rouge and spent most of his life in Baton Rouge or New Orleans. He is survived by his parents, James and Doris Carver from Baton Rouge, LA; his brother Jeff and sister-in-law Cathy Carver from Birmingham, AL; his niece and nephew Claire and Joel Carver from Birmingham, AL; his aunt Carolyn Setliff of Little Rock, AR; his uncle Robert Guinn from Charlotte, N.C. and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother and Grandfather Ruth and Lloyd Loveday, his Grandmother and Grandfather Lorena and Clark Carver, his aunt Evelyn Guinn, his aunt Clarene Carver, and his Uncle Lamar Setliff . Bobby was a physicist. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from LSU where he majored in Physics and Astronomy. He then received his Master of Science degree in Materials Science from Rice University, and his PhD in Physics from Rice University. He was employed by Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center as an Academic Medical Physicist. He was an adjunct faculty member in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at LSU. Bobby was a Renaissance man; learning was a passion for him his entire life. He loved learning not only about science but also about the world in general. He enjoyed tutoring young people in numerous subjects, particularly in science and mathematics. He loved sports. He enjoyed LSU football; however, his favorite football team has always been the University of Notre Dame, and his favorite professional team was the San Francisco 49ers. He cherished his dogs, Delahaussaye and Bella. He loved the time he lived in New Orleans where he enjoyed play-ing poker, participating in Mardi Gras activities, and attending music festivals. Bobby had many medical challenges during his life. Despite those challenges, he was a compassionate, thoughtful person who enjoyed spending time with his friends and whose sense of humor was a special gift. A celebration of his life will be conducted by Rev. Brady Whitton and Rev. Katie Simpson at First United Methodist Church, 930 North Blvd, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70802 in Baton Rouge on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM with visitation at the Church from 12:30 to 2:00 PM, burial will follow at Green Oaks Memorial Park. The family wishes to thank the physicians, nurses and other staff at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Hospital, especially the Special Disease Unit, for their compassion and care. Bobby would have wanted people to consider becoming organ donors because the kidney donations by his father and brother added so much to his life.
