Rita Tullier Farris

Rita Tullier Farris was born in Addis, Louisiana and a lifetime resident of Baton Rouge, LA. She passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at the age of 93. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a graduate of St. Anthony’s High School. She worked until the birth of her children and then devoted herself to raising her family.

Survived by her children, sons Anthony (Andy) Jr. & wife Kendra, Michael & wife Laura, Daniel & wife Ann, and daughter Lisa Farris Deer. Grandchildren Andrea Farris Palmer & husband Michael, James Farris & wife Shannon, Parker Farris & wife Emily, Rachel Stansbury & husband John, Jake Fontenot, Remy Fontenot, and Elise Farris. Great grandchildren Luke Palmer, Melody Palmer, Campbell Farris, Ava Stansbury, and Mia Stansbury. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Landry, brother Carol (Cal) & wife Earline Tullier, and 3 generations of nieces and nephews whom she adored.

Preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Anthony (Tinker) Farris, Sr., parents Paul Adonis and Amelia Crochet Tullier, brother Charles (Charlie) Tullier & wife Marie Tullier, brother-in-law George Landry, and special childhood guardians Lawrence and Leola Bourg.

Her greatest joy in life was her family – her husband, children, grandchildren, and relatives. She was full of life, always welcoming and caring for others. She enjoyed using her gift of hospitality at all the many get-to-togethers that were shared with relatives and friends.

She is now rejoicing in the presence of the Lord and reunited with her husband and loved ones that proceeded her. She will be greatly missed by all and will continue to live in our hearts and minds.

Visitation will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024, from 9:00 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am, celebrated by Father Jeff Bayhi, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Burial to follow in Green Oaks Memorial Park. The pallbearers will be her grandsons and nephews, James Farris, Parker Farris, Michael Palmer, Jake Fontenot, Adam Wood, and Matt Bayhi.
