Ray Allen Werline, Jr., went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, July 12, 2024 at the age of 49 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Ray had more than 25 years of experience applying intrapersonal, problem-solving, and technical skills to design, develop, and implement all aspects of IT for small, medium, and large-scale projects, facilities, and divisions that contributed to multiple project awards, increased profit margins, and the Fortune 500 status of companies. Ray had a unique ability to understand client needs and requirements and build strong working relationships with clients. He was an enthusiastic team leader who mentors with a purpose and understands that strong working relationships create great teams.
Ray took that same enthusiasm and applied it to his personal life as well. His deep love for his family and friends, his church, and most importantly for Jesus, Ray was selfless in all aspects of his life. Always quick to think of others and put his own needs aside, he showed people the true love of Jesus, not only in his words, but his actions as well. Ray took the time to pour into those around him, always encouraging, uplifting, and loving you right where you are. He had a deep devotion to God, his family and friends, his small groups, church meetings, and bible studies. His faith was always the focal point in everything he did. No matter what he was facing his faith never wavered; it simply grew bigger and deeper with each new battle he faced. He was still so faithful even in his last days here with us, one of the last things he said was: “You open up the portals of heaven not just through prayers but you open up the heavens through praise.”
Ray enjoyed playing the guitar, listening to music, singing karaoke with friends, traveling with his beautiful wife and children, going out to eat, and playing beach volleyball. He also enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, hanging out at his home with family and friends.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 10 years, Ashley Knobles Werline; his children, Raygan Werline, Camden Enlund, Eliza Werline, Emery Werline, and Luke Werline; parents, Ray Werline, Sr. and Ginger Werline; siblings, Jill Dickey (TJ), Michele Tilstra (Joe), and Richele Thompson (Trent); father and mother-in-law, Mark and Kim Knobles and Kay Chauvin; 8 nieces and nephews; 5 great nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Orban and Willie Mae Werline, David Stapleton and Virginia Lee Kidd.
A memorial gathering will be held at Church of the King, 2037 Quail Dr., Baton Rouge, LA 70808 on Wednesday, July 17, 2024 from 10 am until celebration of life at 11 am. Although we are deeply sadden by his absence, we are rejoicing that he is longer in pain and is with his Heavenly Father. To honor Ray’s life we ask that you come worship with us and celebrate the love of Jesus as he always enjoyed doing. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in his name to Church of the King-Baton Rouge Campus. Please visit www.greenoaksfunerals.com to leave condolences to Ray’s family.
