Patsy was married for 53 years to Marion E. Causey, Jr. (deceased) of Baton Rouge, LA. Patsy was predeceased by her parents, George and Lillie Speir of Swartz, LA, and siblings George Speir, Jr., Frances Speir Cole, Virginia Speir Renwick, and Marie Speir Glenn. She is survived by siblings David Ray Speir (Swartz) and Jerry Lane Speir (New Orleans). She is survived by her children: Carl Edwin Causey of New Orleans (wife Toni McGee Causey) and Christine Bernice Causey of Baton Rouge. She is also survived by her grandchildren Luke Causey (wife Amanda) and Jacob Causey (wife Elizabeth), as well as great-grandchildren Angela Causey, William Causey, Eli Causey, Olivia Hance and Jaxon Berrigan and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Patsy graduated from Ouachita Parish High School in Monroe, LA, and Louisiana College in Pineville, LA and University of Alabama, in Tuscaloosa, AL., where she received a Master’s in English. She began her teaching career in Fort Worth, TX. She later taught at the University of AL, Gadsden, AL, and then English classes at LSU. She later taught gifted and talented classes in Baton Rouge, where she loved all her “kids.” While at the Baton Rouge Center for Visual and Performing Arts, Patsy was selected as the Louisiana Humanities Teacher of the Year in 1999. Patsy was a Member of First Baptist Church of Baton Rouge; she taught numerous Sunday School classes and was an active member of adult choir. She loved her family dearly, including her family and friends at FBC and remained close to her large family she so enjoyed while growing up. She was always willing to be of service to her friends and enjoyed reading and writing devotionals, which were often a part of FBC’s devotional booklets. Patsy was also an active PEO member and served in several positions of leadership in Chapter Z in Baton Rouge. She was a beautiful spirit, known for her kindness and her good sense of humor. She will be missed terribly. Funeral Services will be Tuesday, April 25th at Rabenhorst Funeral Home at 825 Government Street., Baton Rouge, LA. Visitation begins at 1PM and the funeral service begins at 2PM.
