“Fathers, bring up (your children) in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:14). Our father, Otis Glen Parker, did just that and more during his lifetime upon this Earth, which ended on April 4, 2022, when he passed into the arms of his loving savior, Jesus Christ, at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home in Baton Rouge at age 90. Glen was born in Ansley, LA, on November 20, 1931, graduated from Quitman High School in 1950, and attended Spencer Draughn Business College, where he met his wife. They were married 67 years before her death. Upon arriving in Baton Rouge, he was employed at the Paramount Theatre and later at Bancroft Paper Co, Alco-Columbia Paper Co, and General Paper Co. Glen was a member of Lanier Baptist Church for many years and attended Sherwood Baptist Church in recent years. He leaves behind two sons, Bill Parker and David Parker (Penny); three grandchildren, Elizabeth Parker, William Parker Jr. (Blair), and Daniel Parker; two great grandsons, Landen Boudreaux and Mack Demoulin; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Jeanne Pylant Parker; and sister, Gloria Perkins. Public visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home East (11000 Florida Blvd) on Thursday, April 7, from 5 pm until service at 7 pm, officiated by Rev. Bobby Rayburn. At a later date and at his request, Glen will be cremated, and his family will conduct a private ceremony. Many thanks to the nurses and aides at Flannery Oaks Nursing Home, the staff and caregivers at Compassus Hospice, and a special thank you to Rose who kept our dad very much active and loved by all.
