Nicole Fontenot Perry, 46, of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on Saturday, October 22, 2022. Nicole was a beloved daughter, wife, and mother of four wonderful children. A native of Eunice, LA, and a graduate of St. Edmunds High School, Nicole was active in basketball and 4-H livestock showing, culminating as the Queen of the Louisiana Cattleman’s Association in 1993. Following high school, Nicole moved to Baton Rouge to attend LSU, where she met her husband of 21 years, Ryan Perry, and earned a BS in education. She worked for LSU until the birth of her first child, at which time she dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Nicole was passionate about cheering on her children at their sporting events, and could be found making friends any given night in the bleachers. She never met a stranger and loved to make others smile and laugh. Her love for all children was evident, and she was the very best mother to her own. Her quick-witted humor, fierce determination and generous spirit endeared her to all she met. One of Nicole’s proudest achievements was founding the Climb Back Foundation where she raised funds for pediatric trauma care, ultimately funding the trauma room in the ER of Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital. Nicole fought her illness with extreme courage and grace while maintaining a focus on her family the entire battle. Her tenacity and strength were inspiring to all.
Nicole is survived by her husband of 21 years, Ryan Perry; daughters, Morgan, Molly and Aubrey; son, Preston; parents, Keith and Virginia Fontenot; sister, Emily Gauthier (Charlie); parents-in-law, Shelton and Lorry Perry; and her whole loving family of in-laws and multiple nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Vince Fontenot, Sr. and Helen Darbonne Fontenot and Honoré Tate and Gladys Stout Tate.
A funeral and Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. George Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, LA on Thursday, October 27, 2022. Visitation will be held from 9:00-11:30 with Rosary and mass to follow. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to either St. Jude Children’s Hospital or the Climb Back Foundation.
