"Nicholas Thomas Cusimano, a native and resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on March 1, 2017 at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center at the age of 88. He was a master carpenter and home builder for over 70 years in the Baton Rouge and surrounding areas. He was a hard working provider who cared for his family, and was a father figure to numerous nieces and nephews, especially to his nephews Bobby Crafton, Todd Crafton, and Mark Crafton. He was an avid sports fan, especially the LSU Tigers and loved hunting and the outdoors. He had a great passion for food and loved his wife's cooking. He loved socializing and being around other people, and was a resilient patient who had a positive outlook throughout a long period of illness. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice Grasso Cusimano. He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio Cusimano and Nunzio Territo Cusimano; sisters, Jenny, Ann, Josephine, Mary, Lena, and Laura; brothers, Tony, Johnny, Ciro, and Luke. Visitation will be Saturday, March 4, 2017 at St. Jude Catholic Church in Baton Rouge, from 11:30 a.m. until a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 p.m. The service will be celebrated by Fr. Trey Nelson. Interment to follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Special thanks to Landmark Nursing Home staff for providing care to Nick, the OLOL Hospital Medicine Service MDs, the Palliative Medicine MDs, and the nursing staff that cared for him during his last days. Thanks to Basil Grasso for his numerous loving visits to see Nick at the nursing home and for watching over Alice, and to Nick's Godson LJ Cusimano for assisting with the funeral arrangements.
