Nancy Clare Borne Lato, a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sibling and educator to many, gained her Angel wings on November 25, 2023. A native of Baton Rouge, she was 77 years old. She truly knew Christ and was loved deeply by her family and friends and had the respect and admiration of everyone who knew her. Nancy was truly one of a kind, her infectious smile brought joy to all that were around her. You could see in her eyes the unconditional love for her husband, children and grandchildren who were of utmost importance to her. She touched many lives with her kindness, generosity and goodness. Her entire life was characterized as being patient and forgiving. She had an enduring strength and was always ready to give of herself for the benefit of her family. Nancy graduated from St Anthony High School, and Louisiana State University where she received her undergraduate in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Education. As an educator Nancy taught Kindergarten for 44 years where she touched the lives of countless young children and mentored many new teachers. She is survived by her daughter, Gina Lato; her son Guy Joseph Lato, II (daughter-in-law Julie); two grandchildren Markham McKnight (Fiancé Lindsey LeBlanc) and Russell McKnight; two sisters, Jeanne (Nannette) Borne and Judy Davidson; and two brothers, William (Rusty) Borne and Leonce, Jr (Ouncy) Borne (Mary) and many nieces and nephews. Nancy had one very special angel, Sister Helen, who always made time to stop in and visit with her. She was preceded in death by her husband, the love of her life for 30 years, Guy Joseph Lato; her parents, Leonce and Belle Borne; and her brother, John H. Borne, Sr. The family would like to thank all of the staff at Ollie Steele Burden Manor who treated Nancy like their own family.
