A loving wife, mother and grandmother has gone to be with her Lord. She departed this life peacefully and full of years on July 7, 2012 at her home in Baton Rouge, LA at the age of 98. Visitation will be at Ingleside United Methodist Church on Tuesday July 10, 2012 from 9:30 a.m. until funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Minnie May was born in Woodville, MS, on December 22, 1913. She lived in Woodville until marrying Henry Young Bennett on December 17, 1932. They lived in New Jersey, and in several countries in South America, before settling in Baton Rouge, LA, where they spent the rest of their lives. A devoted homemaker, Minnie May was preceded in death by her husband, and by her mother, Ethlyn Perkins Steger, father, Edward Henry Steger, and sister, Katherine Steger White. Minnie May's lifelong positive attitude made her an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was much loved, and will be greatly missed. Minnie May is survived by her daughter, Joanne Bennett Troth, her granddaughter, Mayann Troth Stroup, and nieces and nephews. The family gratefully acknowledges the compassionate, supportive care provided by our wonderful sitters and the caregivers from Hospice Associates.
