Michael Mason

Michael O’Ray Mason was born in Sacramento, California on April 22, 1968 to the late Nancy Love Jones and the late Willie Lee Mason. He received Christ at an early age and continued to worship and study God’s word until his untimely death.

Michael moved to Louisiana in the late 1970s. He attended Glen Oaks High School where he was very active in sports and music. Upon graduation, Michael returned to Sacramento where he worked a variety of jobs. Around 2010, Michael moved back to Louisiana and was employed by the Department of Public Works until his health started to decline. Michael overcame many obstacles in his life. His perseverance in light of this is a testament to his upbringing and to his faith in the Lord.

Michael departed this earthly life on Monday, December 06, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Nancy Love Jones as well as his father, Willie Lee Mason. Michael is survived by his children, Nykee Mason, Kyron Mason, Brianna Mosely Williams, Blake Mason, and Brianna Mason; his grandchildren, Nylah Mason and Anthony Mason; his step-mother, Cuc Mason; his siblings, Van Jones (Latrice), Aaron Jones, Michelle Mason Lewis (Randy), Julie Mason (Chiquita), Christie Mason-Sylve (Bobby), Shelshee Jones, Kosha Key Cunningham (Eric), Vernon Singleton and Jonathan Mason (Keyanna); along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd, on Sunday, December 12th from 1 pm until funeral service at 3 pm. Michael will be laid to rest in Greenoaks Memorial Park Cemetery on Monday, December 13th at 10 am.
