She was preceded in death by her parents, Sanford Chambers and Rose Baroch Chambers; husband, Charles Marion Harper; children, Susan Diane Harper and Mark Loran Harper; siblings, Robert Chambers, Webb Chambers, Sally Chambers Miskell.
She is survived by her sons, Carl Harper (Jeri) and Charles Harper (Susan); grandchildren, Travis Harper, Kryste Harper, Liz Harper, Rebecca Harper; several other grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mary was a longtime member of St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church and St. Vincent DePaul Society. She was a retired Registered Nurse who started her career at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and later transferred to the State of Louisiana Public Health Department. Mary was an avid painter and talented seamstress. She was a strong, gentle, generous and loving person who had a close personal relationship with Jesus and the Blessed Virgin Mary. The family would like to thank her special caregiver Carolyn Burns for her compassionate care and friendship.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Friday, November 5, 2021 beginning at 10:00 a.m. and a funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. at St. Gerard Majella Catholic Church, 5354 Plank Rd., Baton Rouge. A graveside service will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park, 4045 North St., Baton Rouge.
