Marian Carol McIntyre

"Marian Carol McIntyre, 81, passed from this life in the early morning hours of September 27, 2019. She died at home in Baton Rouge, LA. Marian was born in Greenville, MS on August 6, 1938 to her parents James L. and Blanche Grace Taylor McIntyre. "Mary", as she was known to family and her many friends, had an active, happy childhood as the youngest of three children, embracing church and family celebrations and observances. She was a devout Christian, having confessed Jesus Christ as her Savior and Lord at an early age. She was baptized at First Baptist Church in Greenville and was active in all youth activities there. She graduated from E.E. Bass, Jr. Senior High School in Greenville. She furthered her education, attending Mississippi College in Clinton, MS. She received a Bachelor's Degree in Religious Education. She then earned her Master's Degree in Religious Studies from Southwestern Baptist Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Mary later graduated from New Orleans Baptist Seminary with a Specialist Degree, majoring in Psychology and Counseling.Her career in Louisiana began when she became the State Director of the Young Women's Auxillary in Alexandria, LA. "Miss Mac" as she came to be known in Baton Rouge, was the S.E.A.R.C.H. Day Development Training Supervisor for citizens with developmental disabilities. She became the program director and manager for the Emergency Shelter for Abused and Neglected Children. She coordinated the shelter services with DHRR/Child Protection Center and the Junior League Volunteer Program.Mary was office manager of a privately owned court reporting service, from which she began her retirement, remaining in Baton Rouge. Marian earned many accolades in her lifetime of dedication to the Lord she served and His children.  She is noted for her love of music, her friends from every walk of life, her love for everybody's children, her laughter, and her sensitivity to the needs of others.After her job came to a close at St. John's Methodist Church where she served as Children's Day Care Director, Dr. Carmen Scialla, former Music Director wrote, " I shared my working environment with Miss McIntyre for 5 years. In that time, I was able to observe "Miss Mac" in every aspect of her work. In short, her diligence and dedication could be seen in her dealings with children, parents, and staff"¦ Concern for others is Marian's highest priority and she expects her staff to uphold the same values without exception. Her knowledge of every child in the program attests to her genuine concern for their well-being. She called everyone by their name and seemed to anticipate their needs as well as knowing what is needed to deal with the individual personalities of children and adults alike." He, Dr. Scialla, speaks well of the life of Marian Carol McIntyre while in her Savior's calling.Her survivors include: her sister Grace McIntyre Menhel; nieces and nephews "“ her namesake Marian Joanna Menhel Polk, Beth Menhel (Mike) McCain, Abraham (Kim) Menhel, II, all of Greenville, MS, Bill McIntyre (Teresa) Menhel of Jackson, MS, and their father Abraham (Ruth) Menhel, Sr. also of Greenville.Her surviving family in Vicksburg, MS includes: her niece, Cheryl McIntyre (Mike) Lloyd; nephew James Ross (Shirley) McIntyre and their children - William (Sonia) Lloyd and Clara Lloyd of Baton Rouge, and Steve (Stephanie) Lloyd, Jacob Lloyd, and Sarah Lloyd of Vicksburg, MS; and her devoted friend of many years, Miss Bobby Germany of Baton Rouge, LA. Their beloved "Aunt Mary" was an important member of the family to numerous nieces and nephews in the Greenville and Jackson, MS area, and she loved each of them. They held a special place in her interests in them and their activities.Preceding Marian in death are: her parents James Lemon McIntyre and Blanche Grace Taylor McIntyre of Greenville, MS; grandparents John W. and Johnnie Marian Taylor of Fort Worth, TX; and brother and sister-in-law Billy Ray and Pat Ross McIntyre of Vicksburg, MS. The family wishes to acknowledge those who gave devoted professional care to Marian- Dr. Bill May, Dr. Garland Greene, Dr. Paul Waguespack, and her physical therapist Alexi Braid; and to thank friends, Winton and Beverly Turner, Ernestine Hartley, and her Women's Bible Study Class.A visitation will be held Sunday, October 6, 2019 in the sanctuary of University Baptist Church, 5775 Highland Road, Baton Rouge, LA 70808 at 2:00 pm with the memorial service to follow at 3:00 pm.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Joni and Friends Ministry, PO Box 6088, Albert Lee, MN 56007; or to the Doris Day Animal Foundation, 8033 Sunset Boulevard, Suite 845, Los Angeles, CA 90046.
