Lyman Julian Parker was born to Julian Titus Parker and Alice Davis Parker in Talisheek, Louisiana where he spent his childhood years. After losing his mother at the age of 9, he moved with his father and younger sister to Bogalusa, Louisiana. He lost his father at the age of 14. At this time, he remained in Bogalusa where he and his younger sister went to live with his older sister, her husband, and their young son. He graduated from Bogalusa High School in 1956. He moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana after graduation and worked at Brown’s Service Station. He later went on to work on Tugboats with Exxon and Chautin traveling the Mississippi River where he continued until 1966 when he went to work for Ethyl Corporation. He married in 1958 and had three children over the next few years. He relocated his family to Watson, Louisiana in 1969. During this time, he enjoyed operating his own dump truck every opportunity that he had. In 1983 after 15 years at Ethyl, he then became self-employed by starting Lyman J. Parker Mobile Home Moving and Towing. He also worked with a Hot Shot Transport business until his retirement in 2012. He was a very hardworking man that loved running his trucking business and meeting people. He was a diesel mechanic and worked on many cars and trucks over the years. Lyman had a love for dirt track races and built his own sprint car in 1985. His other loves included antique cars, steel guitars, and country music. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge #297 of Denham Springs and the Masonic Lodge #442 of Central where he earned his 32nd degree and was the Past Master of the Central Lodge in 2013. He was a member of Live Oak United Methodist Church of Watson, Louisiana. He loved eating Louisiana crawfish and seafood along with spending time with his family. He recently welcomed his great-granddaughter, Alaina Beth Andre into the world and was able to enjoy precious moments with her, along with many of his loving family members during his last days. Lyman was very loved and will be missed by his family and friends.
Lyman is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Dianna Joan Parker; his children, Lyman “Bruce” Parker, Lisa Parker King (Ernie), and Kenzie Wayne Parker; his stepchildren, Hollie Watson, Randy Ducote (Nikki), and Angie Ducote McNeil (David); his sister, Linda Scruggs (Mike); numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
Former wife and mother of his three children, Mary Morris from Bogalusa, Louisiana.
Lyman was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kenzie Parker; brother, Shelby Parker and wife Barbara; sister, Julia Wilcox and husband Whitman; sister, Goldie Byrd and husband Lamar.
Services will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on Monday, March 4, 2024. Visitation will begin at 11:00am. A Masonic Service will start at 2:00pm followed with a service by Pastor Stephen Hebert. Burial to follow in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be grandsons Adam Parker and Jonah Parker King, step grandsons Joshua Watson, Kaleb Watson, Michael Cormier, and Cole Cormier.
The family would like to thank Dr. Joel Silverberg and Dr. N. Joseph Deumite for their compassionate care given over the years.
