Lottie was born at home in Baker, Louisiana, on June 10, 1926, and was a resident of Baker for 96 years. Lottie died on October 7, 2022, at Flannery Oaks Guest House in Baton Rouge. She is survived by eight children and their spouses: Kitty Thibodeaux, Linda and Larry Richardson, Mary and Bill Rogers, John Engels and Carolyn Engels, Yvette Babin, Joseph and Geri Engels, Dale and Katherine Engels, and Robert Gregory Engels. Lottie had more than 60 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Bertram Engels, Sr., her parents Clarence Singletary O'Callaghan and Catherine Elosia Norwood O'Callaghan, two sisters, Lorraine O'Callaghan Norton and Ruth O'Callaghan Boyd, a brother, Clarence (Bootsy) O'Callaghan, her youngest daughter, Anita Bercegeay, a grandson, Ronald Wesley Rogers, a great granddaughter, Ave Thibodeaux, and sons-in-law, Ryan Thibodeaux, Donald Wayne Ezell, Malcolm Babin, and Earl Bercegeay. Lottie was a member of St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church her entire life. She had a heart of gold, was a wonderful mother to her nine children and a sincere friend to so many people. May God bless her. She will be sorely missed by many, especially her children and family who look forward to being with her again in Heaven. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 12, 2022, at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church from 9 am until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am. With recitation of Rosary at 10 am. Burial at Resthaven Gardens of Memory.
