Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25-26) Services to honor Linda Phillips LeBlanc will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. at Jefferson Baptist Church in Baton Rouge. Dr. David Goza, Senior Pastor, will conduct the service. Visitation will be from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m., with graveside services at 3:00 p.m. in Melville, Louisiana. Linda, age 81, passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2022, after a brief but courageous and determined battle with breast cancer. It would be wrong to say that Linda lost her battle because she never stopped fighting. No matter how sick she was, Linda was always determined. At a point when most would have broken, she stayed strong. Through Linda, we learned what grace under pressure truly meant. There was no quit in Linda Ann. Just because she is no longer here does not mean she lost her fight. She was born in Lecompte, Louisiana, on November 30, 1940. Linda was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who retired from working in the healthcare field, where she most fondly remembered her time at Community Health, which she referred to as her “work home.” She was her children and grandchildren’s #1 fan. For Linda, three things mattered most: faith, family, and friends. She was a lifelong member of the Baptist Church, most recently at Jefferson Baptist in Baton Rouge, LA. Linda was the biological mother of three children and two grandchildren. However, many considered her their surrogate mother and Meme, Mimi, or MeMaw, including Michael Dupré, who she considered her son, and Mason Poindexter, whom she considered her grandson. Linda was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother, family member, and friend by any standard. She was the first to offer help, bring a meal, visit a sick family member, and made a point to be at every event or activity she could for her grandchildren. Linda had countless friends, not the least of which are her three life-long friends, Mrs. Suzanne David, Mrs. Norma Jenkins, and Mrs. Donna York, who she remained in close contact with all of her life. Those wishing to memorialize Linda are encouraged to donate in her memory to The Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group ALS Clinic, the First Baptist Church of Melville, Louisiana, or The Crossing at Clarity Hospice. She is survived by sons Winfield Joseph LeBlanc, Jr.; Philip Patrick and wife Amanda LeBlanc, of Baton Rouge, Benjamin Keith and wife Melissa LeBlanc, of Denham Springs, Dr. Michael William and wife Kim, Dupré, of Mandeville, and three grandchildren, Logan Dennis LeBlanc, of Baton Rouge, Luke Benjamin LeBlanc, of Denham Springs, and Mason Brandt Poindexter, of San Antonio, Texas. She is predeceased by her father, Harvey Luke Phillips, mother, Edna Scroggs Phillips, brother, Benjamin Phillips, husband, Winfield Joseph LeBlanc, Sr., and her beloved Igene Goudeau Brown (Mama Genie). Pallbearers will be Winfield LeBlanc, Philip, LeBlanc, Keith LeBlanc, Logan LeBlanc, Tim LeBlanc, and Michael Dupré. Honorary pallbearers will be Luke LeBlanc, Steve Pereira, Kenneth Daigle, Keith Kessler, and Mason Poindexter. If you wish to sign the online guestbook, you may do so at www.dignitymemorial.com.
