Joycelyn Smith Nichols, loving wife and devoted mother, native and resident of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on September 26, 2023 at the age of 75. She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Mike Nichols; son, Thomas Nichols and his partner, Jennie Dreher; brother, Preston Smith (Lori); sister, Jacque Blanchard (Rodney); niece, Kaci; and nephews, Matthew, Brad, Chad, Kyle, Chad G., and Todd. She is preceded in death by her parents, Clinton and Carrie Juanita Smith.
Joycelyn was a graduate of Baton Rouge High and received her bachelor’s degree from USL in Lafayette. She taught for several years in East Baton Rouge parish, and she was a Library Tech for 20 plus years for East Baton Rouge Parish Library. Joycelyn was an avid reader, a tireless homemaker, and enjoyed gardening and playing piano. She loved with all of her heart, and never hesitated to let those she cared for know it. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
