Dr. Gregory Nelson

Dr. Gregory Nelson, 68, of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, April 9, 2023. He was born on May 9, 1954 in Luverne, Minnesota to the late Dr. Russell Nelson and Jayne Nelson. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Harlan Nelson. Survivors include his wife, Debra Nelson; daughters, Jessica Weigand and husband, Ryan of Baton Rouge, LA, and Dr. Vanessa Darcey and husband, Ian of Baton Rouge, LA; son, Joseph Nelson and wife, Brooke of Denham Springs, LA; and 5 grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Jeanne Ludowese and husband, Jim of Litchfield, MN, and Debi Hunt and husband, Paul of Hot Springs, AR; and sister-in-law, Patricia Nelson.

Dr. Gregory, also known as the “singing doctor”, was a chiropractor in Baton Rouge, LA from 1979 to 2022. He was a faithful member of Healing Place Church. In 1972, Dr. Gregory graduated from Lincoln High School in Sioux Falls, SD. While there, he was captain of the wrestling team and was state A Champion of South Dakota. Gregory has a great love for golf, hunting, fishing, and any other outdoor activities. He had a getaway home in Gulfport, MS where he enjoyed the beach with his family.

A private funeral service was held at Greenoaks Funeral Home.
