Geraldine Crosby Day Bock, a long-time resident of Baton Rouge, passed away Tuesday, November 19, 2019. Geraldine, affectionately referred to as “Mama Day” by her family, was a dedicated mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She grew up in Crosby, Mississippi and was a graduate of Crosby High School. She attended Louisiana Business College and began working at Lewis Construction (A.C. Lewis Management) after graduation. The Lewises became like a second family to her and she remained working for their company until her death, refusing to let anyone utter the word “retirement” in her presence.
Geraldine had a vivacious personality and made friends everywhere she went. She enjoyed spending time with her family, socializing with friends, and traveling the world. She was a devoted Christian, who loved music and could often be heard softly singing her favorite hymns.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Elizabeth “Ann” Clayton, Andrew “Drew” Day, Jr. (Phyllis), and Woodrow “Woody” Day (Ernestine); grandchildren, Justin “Andy” Day, Catherine Dyson, Erin Day, Caroline Clayton Milling, Camille Clayton Daigle, James Clayton, Andrew Day III, Susan Day Turk, Eddie Day, and Sydney McCumsey; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Rev. William “Bill” Crosby; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was welcomed into Heaven and reunited with her first husband, Andrew Day, Sr; second husband, Heinz Bock; parents, Robert Crosby, Sr. and Elizabeth Moak Crosby; siblings, Joyce Major and Robert Crosby, Jr.; and beloved granddaughter, Dana Jean Day.
Pallbearers will be Andy Day, James Clayton, Andrew Day, Eddie Day, Matt Dyson, and Charlie Turk.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 22, 2019, 9:30 a.m. at Greenoaks Funeral Home (9595 Florida Blvd 70815), with funeral services immediately following at 12:00 p.m. Burial to follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
Geraldine will be remembered as a loving, strong-minded, and fiercely independent woman. We will miss her every day.
