Gerald Andrew Gautreaux (May 1, 1956 - December 11, 2024) was a beloved and cherished significant other, father, grandpa, and friend. Known to family and friends as “Goat”, one of his best qualities was making you feel like family the second he met you and that was shortly followed by a “hey babe”.
Goat was born and raised in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the son of Freddie Mitchell Gautreaux, Sr. and Mildred Aline Weaver. Shortly after high school, Goat followed his passion and garnered a reputation as one of the finest Machinist on this side of the Mississippi. In his off time, Goat enjoyed playing golf, cooking, spending time with family and friends, watching football, and occasionally crafting one-off items that truly showcased his creative abilities.
Goat is survived by the love of his life, Kyra, whose smile made him the happiest man in the world. In addition, he is survived by former wife and mother of his children, Kelli Ashy; son, Jordan Andrew Gautreaux and life partner, Alexus, and cherished granddaughter, Aria; daughter, Jillian Gautreaux Strickland, and husband, Eric; work son, Kirk Hasselbeck and wife, Sam, and their sons Bryce, Dylan, and Chase; and step-daughter, Steph Gagliano and husband, Brad, and their daughters Riley and Norah.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Freddie “Mitch” Gautreaux, Jr., mother, Mildred Aline Weaver, and father, Freddie Gautreaux, Sr.
Special thanks to caregivers, Bonnie Joubert, Donna Semien, and Brenda McKenzie and to Hospice In His Care for all of your compassion and support.
In lieu of flowers, please consider leaving a special memory you have of Goat, so the family can look back on those fond memories during this difficult time.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815 on Saturday, December 14th, 2024 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM until service time. A private burial will be held at a later date.
