George Reeve Robert Swan, 60, a native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, and longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on December 12, 2015. He was a loving father and husband who enjoyed spending time with family and friends and rooting for Mississippi State football. He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Merry Bowen Swan, his daughters, Ashley Swan Bordelon and husband, Daniel, and Katheryn Ann Swan; his brother Daniel Joseph Swan, III and wife, Judy; his sister, Frances "Tuzzi" Swan White and husband, Ken; his brother-in-law, Ray McNamara; father-in-law John W. Bowen, Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel Joseph Swan, Jr. and Dorothy Reeve Swan, and his sister, Elizabeth Swan McNamara. George was born in Vicksburg on January 11, 1955. He graduated from South Vicksburg High School in 1973 and Mississippi State University in 1977. George has been in the glass business for 44 years and was the proud co-owner/president of Glass House&Supplies, Inc. in Gonzales, Louisiana, for over 20 years. He was an avid Bulldog fan, known for ringing his cowbell at Tigerland tailgates. Many also knew him for his wit and humor, for he was always making people laugh. As he said many times, he wanted inscribed on his tombstone "I have cut my last piece of glass, now I'm going to rest my..." Visitation will be at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, from 11:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. officiated by Rev. Tom Duhe'. George will be buried in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Visitation will also be held at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM on Thursday, December 17, 2015 followed by a private family graveside service. Pallbearers are his brother, Dan Swan; brothers-in-law, John Bowen, III, Joe Lyons, and Ken White; and his close friends, Johnny Bobo, Scooter Carr, Bill Dow, and Howard Waring. Honorary pallbearers are Eric Carr, Chuck Huffman, Ray McNamara, Scott McPherson, Fred Smith, and James Sullivan. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to Dr. Carter Balart and staff for the wonderful care given to George.
