Frank Earl Dedman, a resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on October 23, 2023 at the age of 91. Frank was born in Vicksburg, Mississippi on April 29, 1932. He and his family moved to Baton Rouge in 1947 from Vicksburg and attended Istrouma High School where he met his bride, Carolyn Courtney Dedman. They were married for 65 years until her passing in 2015. In 1953, he joined the Masonic Lodge in Baton Rouge and was elected Master of the Lodge in 2004. His love for the Masons acquired him the highest honor, Inspector General Honorary, Scottish Rite 33red Degree. Frank and Carolyn raised four children. He loved his family deeply and with such intensity which was the driving force to provide the best for his family. His passion for serving others began at an early age and continued. In 1950 he became part owner of Hoppers Drive Inn. In 1964, he opened Blue Bird Drive Inn, and then in 1972 changed the name to Frank’s Restaurant. His hard work and dedication in serving the community awarded him to become a successful business owner. He was admired for his leadership qualities and ethics towards his employees. He always extended a handshake with a smile on his face as he thanked his customers who patronized the restaurant. Be true to your work, strive for excellence and show appreciation were just a few words that made this man great. He is survived by his children, Deborah Dedman, Cheryl Dedman Salter and Frank Dedman Jr. (Catherine Troxclair); grandchildren, Kimberly Hodges Laschenski, Devon Hodges, Cari Wirt Wood, Kristen Wirt McNabb, Jennifer Dedman Guerin, Kayla Salter Aucoin, Frank Dedman III, Ross Dedman, Jill Hodges and Jane Hodges Coulter and twenty-three great grandchildren. Preceded in death, spouse, Carolyn Courtney Dedman, father George Dedman, mother Lillian Cook Dedman; brother, Herman Dedman; daughter, Janet Dedman Hodges; son in law, Jack Hodges; granddaughter, Shala Day; son in law, Brent Salter; grandson Ryan Salter and granddaughter Joy Hodges. Visitation will be held at Greenoaks Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA. 70815, on Thursday, October 26, 2023 from 10:00am until service time of 1:00pm. Interment will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
