Dorothy Perritt Ward

Dorothy Perritt Ward, a native of Arcadia, La. and a longtime resident of Baton Rouge, passed away on Friday, May 6, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Born in 1933, she graduated from Arcadia High School, then moved to Baton Rouge to attend business school. Soon thereafter, she met Edward F. Ward, Jr., who was attending LSU. They later married. Indeed, this was a marriage made in Heaven, lasting 62 wonderful years. The loving care she provided to Eddie in his final months remains an inspiration to those fortunate to be witnesses. After raising their 3 daughters, she worked alongside Eddie at his insurance agency until retirement. She served as a volunteer at the Baton Rouge General-Bluebonnet gift shop for many years and was also a longtime member of the Baton Rouge Camellia Society. She enjoyed oil painting and was an accomplished artist. Dottie was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church and was a member of their Prayer Shawl Ministry, helping to make items for those ill or in need of comfort. She enjoyed dancing, gardening, genealogy and traveling with Eddie throughout the United States and Europe. A devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dottie will be dearly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Becky Ward Losavio and husband Sam, Robin Ward Jumonville and husband, Francis, and grandchildren, Andrew Losavio, Lauren Losavio St. Romain and husband, Jordan, Ben Jumonville and wife, Lauren, and Todd Jumonville, great-granddaughter, Nora Jumonville, a brother, Wade H. Perritt, and nephew, Casey Perritt. Preceded in death by her parents, Claude G. Perritt and Louise Hines Perritt Humphreys, and daughter, Erin Anne Ward. The family would like to thank the staff at the Blake at The Grove as well as Dottie’s caregivers, nurses and aides for their genuine care and concern. Visitation will be held at Rabenhorst Funeral Home, 825 Government St., Monday, May 9, 2022 , from 10:30 a.m. until religious service at 12:00 p.m. Entombment to follow at St. George Catholic Church Mausoleum, Baton Rouge. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren and their spouses. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Aloysius Catholic Church.
