"Well done, thy good and faithful one." Our beloved Doris June Greely Murray passed away on August 15, 2021, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was 88. Her parents were Doris Yoes Greely and Arthur T. Greely of Baker. June was four years old when her father died and she was later adopted by her beloved stepfather, Elbert Stonecipher. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her husband of 45 years, Gene "Bill" Murray. June graduated from Baker High School and Spencer Business College. She worked for many years at Commercial Securities. For more than 20 years, June was a volunteer at Mary's House of Bread, a charitable organization. Her hobby was crocheting and her favorite items to make were bookmark sized crosses; she donated her crosses to entire church congregations, Cursillo, and for distribution to our military overseas. June's crosses "traveled" with her love and prayers nationally and internationally. She was an active member of Brownsfield Baptist Church where she participated in many groups and activities, including choir and the Forever Young Club. June is survived by her sister, Joyce Sasser, sister-in-law, Eloise Steele, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Services will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Boulevard in Baton Rouge. Visitation from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service at 1:00 p.m., to be conducted by Rev. Steve Bridges, and burial in Greenoaks Memorial Park.
