Donna F Meyer

Donna Forbes Meyer, a longtime resident of Morgan City, LA and a native of Baton Rouge, LA, passed away on September 30, 2021 at the age of 70. Donna will be remembered as always being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. Donna had an infectious smile and laugh to go with a heart to serve others. She was known as the “energizer bunny” who poured herself into her family and community. As the St. Mary Chamber of Commerce President, the efforts she led are too numerous to recount. Some notables worth mentioning are A Taste of St. Mary, the Bayou BBQ Bash, Bikers on the Bayou, and Leadership St. Mary. We are all aware that she never said no.

More than anything, she loved to visit around a table of good food and great music with family and friends telling stories. She could shop for a bargain like no one else we know. Her eyes would light up with every conversation as she made the person she was talking to feel as they were the most important person in the room.

Donna is survived by her loving husband of 41 years, Edward L. Meyer III; mother, Margie Forbes; children Jon Meyer (Shelly Meyer); Alex Meyer, Melissa Henson; grandchildren Brittany Denham, Cash Meyer, Nolan Henson, Samantha Henson; sisters Tina Blanchard, Toni Perkins; brother Otis T. Forbes Jr; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her son Brad Denham; grandson Jax Meyer; father Otis T. “Dude” Forbes; sister Beverly Van Pelt. Pallbearers will be Jon Meyer, Alex Meyer, Otis T. Forbes Jr., Matthew Smith, Buster Matthews, and Michael Shamblin.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd. Baton Rouge, LA 70815, from 10:00 am -12:00 pm with the funeral service to follow immediately after visitation. Graveside internment will begin at 1:00 pm. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 11, 2021 from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Morgan City Municipal Auditorium, 727 Myrtle St. Morgan City, LA 70380.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary Chamber of Commerce for the proposed Donna Meyer Outstanding Senior Leadership Scholarship to be awarded to a graduating senior of any of the six high schools in St. Mary Parish at 600 Main St., Franklin, LA 70538.
