Charles Clinton Cranfield, Jr. passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2022, at the age of 85. He was a native of Baton Rouge, LA and a resident of Central, LA, but his favorite place to live was Pride, LA. Charles graduated from Baker High School. He retired from the insurance claims industry after 50+ years. Charles married his high school sweetheart, Stella Hodges, and just celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary on July 8, 2022, at their home surrounded by family and friends. He was an avid sportsman who played basketball, baseball, and loved camping, fishing and hunting. But above all, he cherished the time he spent with his family. Charles is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Stella; his children, Keith Cranfield (Sharon), Diane Williams (Mark), Lori Bailey (David), and a VERY special great-grandchild, raised as their son, Brendon Smith; grandchildren, Shaun Cranfield (Amanda), Carrie Godwin (Andrew), Sonny Stockstill, Ryan Stockstill, and Clint Stockstill (Dani); great-grandchildren, Alissa Smith, Cayden Schmidt, Joie, Jordyn and Jorgia Williams, Joy, Miriam, Josiah and Mabel Godwin, and Reagan and Willow Cranfield; great-great-grandchild, Raven Miller; sister, Mary Lois Senyard (Corley); and a host of other loving family members. Charles is preceded in death by his granddaughters, Heather H. Smith and Lauren Hope; parents, Charles, Sr. and Agnes Cranfield; and a special cousin, James “Jimmy” Daniel Cranfield. Visitation will be at Greenoaks Funeral Home, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA, on Monday, July 25, 2022, from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Visitation will resume at Greenoaks on Tuesday, July 26, 2022, from 12:00pm until the time of funeral services at 2:00pm. Burial will immediately follow at Greenoaks Memorial Park. Pall bearers will be Ryan Stockstill, Clint Stockstill, Shaun Cranfield, Andrew Godwin, Jonathan Bailey and Brendon Smith. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of OLOL, Dr. Amy Giarrusso, and especially Dr. Brad Rodrigue, for their exceptional care and compassion shown to Charles, and to the staff of Audubon Hospice.
