Carole Cummings Wright passed away peacefully on February 14, 2022 at the age of 80. She was a native of Jackson, TN and a resident of Baton Rouge since 1980. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Phillip J. Wright; three children: Dana Townsend, Joel Benson, and Michael (Jackie) Benson; a sister, Kay (Nello) Rogers of Plant City, FL, sister in law Marcia Cummings of Franklin, NC, five step daughters, six grandchildren, ten step grandchildren, and eleven step great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers, Steve Cummings of Johnson City, TN, and Michael Cummings of Franklin, NC. Following retirement as Senior Sales Associate for Samson Industrial Carole focused on community outreach services to the poor and homeless in downtown Baton Rouge, her beloved needlepoint projects for the church, plus needlepoint announcements for family weddings and births. Carole was an active member of St. James Episcopal Church serving two terms on the vestry, as parish house chair and Gumbo chair person, and as chair of the Needlepoint Guild. Visitation will be held at St. James Episcopal Church on March 5, 2022 at 9:00 am, with service to follow at 10:00 am, to be followed by inurnment in the St. James columbarium.
