Carol Abadie Speyrer, 68, died on Thursday, April 30, 2015 in Baton Rouge, LA. Carol was born in New Orleans, LA on December 24, 1946 as the oldest of three children to Joseph L. and Nora L. (Gaiennie) Abadie. She grew up in New Orleans attending St. Matthias School, Dominican High School, and Dominican College. She was married to Richard Speyrer in 1971, and they raised three daughters in Jackson, MS, and Lafayette and Baton Rouge, LA. She was retired as School Librarian from St. Louis King of France School. She is survived by her husband of almost 44 years, Dick Speyrer; three daughters: Kristen Speyrer, Laurie Speyrer Chiasson (Mark), and Emilie Speyrer Becker (Michael); a "much younger" brother, Paul Joseph Abadie; and four grandchildren: Anthony and Benjamin Chiasson, Jacob Becker, and soon-to-be-born grandchild Becker. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Peck, and her brother Brian Joseph Abadie. Carol was a loving and dedicated daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, and a friend to all. She loved spending time with her family, including many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and all her dear friends. Carol loved to sing and was a member of the St. Louis King of France Church choir. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Instead of flowers she requested donations to the Leukemia&Lymphoma Society in memory of her brother, Brian. Visitation will be held at St. Louis King of France Church, 2121 N. Sherwood Forest Drive, on Friday, May 8, from 2:00 pm until the funeral Mass at 3:30 pm. Carol's family would like to thank their family and friends for the outpouring of love, prayers and support following her death.
